At Precise, we’re always looking to the future. Whether it’s planning a project, developing our business strategy or, in this case, looking at the wellbeing of our planet, we are 100% signed up to a forward-thinking attitude. A young team, with young kids, we see it as our responsibility to do all we can to make sure the future’s bright – for everyone.

For us, looking ahead, there are few things more important than climate change. It’s arguably one of the biggest items on the global agenda – and we believe we’re duty-bound to do what we can to make a difference.  For us, one way to do this is by being experts in renewable heating technologies.

What is renewable heating technology?

Renewable heating technology is all about using heating systems that are run using renewable energy – energy that comes from natural sources that are in constant supply and are self-replenishing.  There are various types of renewable energy, but in this article, we want to focus on using air to heat your home and provide hot water.

Why are renewables so important?

Renewables are much talked about because of the threats that traditional energy sources are causing our planet.  Add to that, spiralling costs and the impact of political unrest, it’s easy to see why more and more people are starting to take renewable energy much more seriously. The main alternative to fossil fuels, renewable energy sources don’t harm the environment and aren’t impacted by supply and demand, financial, social or political unrest, such as the war in Ukraine.

AND YES, YOU CAN use air to heat your home

For anyone who hasn’t kept up with developments in this area, using air to heat your home isn’t just possible, it’s a highly desirable and forward-thinking way to go.  Here at Precise, we specialise in installing air source heat pumps. But what exactly are they?

An Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) is an effective and efficient way to produce hot water to heat your home. It works by absorbing heat from the air and transferring it to a compressed liquid that runs through your heating system to provide heating and hot water. You may find it hard to believe, but an Air Source Heat Pump can still get heat from the air when outside temperatures are as low as -25°C.

Efficiency that’s (almost) beyond belief

It may seem hard to believe, but it’s real and it’s happening right now.  We’re going to be sharing a whole lot more about this, but, for now it’s worth knowing that one of the big advantages of Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) is that they’re cheaper than Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) and reach higher temperature peaks.

They are also 350% efficient and, for every 1kw of electricity you put in it gives out rough 4kw of heat. This is a great fact and one of the easiest ways to see quickly how an Air Source Heat Pump can easily outstrip an alternative heat source using more traditional boilers – particularly oil or LPG.

What we’re sharing today is just a very basic outline of what Air Source Heat Pumps are, and we’re doing that because we’re finding more and more people are getting interested in them.  If you have any questions about the how you could heat your home in a more responsible way, give us a shout – we’re here to help and we don’t ever confuse you with renewable jargon 😂  In the meantime, stay close to our Facebook and LinkedIn pages because we’ll be sharing more about this over the next few weeks and months.
