When you’re looking for a trade, where do you go? If you’re like most people, you’ll head to your phone, tablet or laptop and ask Mr Google for help. One of the great things about this way of doing things is that you feel spoilt for choice.
But once you have a list of umpteen options, how on earth do you choose who’s best for you?
One way is by looking at customer reviews. Another way is by making a shortlist from your options and asking around in your local area. So, with that in mind, how important are customer reviews?
For us at Precise, we take our customer reviews really seriously and are proud of what our customers have to say about us. To be honest, we’re not as great as we should be when it comes to asking customers for reviews, but when we do get them, we’re over the moon.
That’s why, in our opinion, customer reviews are very important, for various reasons. Here are just 3 of the reasons why we believe that you should allow customer reviews to help your decision-making process:
- Trust and Credibility: Customer reviews contribute to the overall trust and credibility of a product or service. When you see positive reviews from other customers, it gives you confidence in the quality and reliability of the company. Positive reviews act as social proof, assuring you that others have had a positive experience, which is reassuring.
- Informed Decision-Making: Reading customer reviews gives you valuable information to help you make more informed decisions. Reviews often cover things like reliability, customer service, quality and price. By considering the experiences shared by other customers, you can gain insights into whether a product or service met their needs and expectations – and in turn whether it’s likely to meet yours.
- Transparency and Accountability: Customer reviews promote transparency in the marketplace. They’re an opportunity for customers to express their opinions, both positive and negative, about their experiences with a product or service. This level of transparency holds businesses accountable and encourages them to maintain quality standards and customer-centric practices. And that’s definitely good news for you – the consumer.

All of that said, while customer reviews are important, they should be approached critically – especially if a company has too many reviews to seem credible. Not all reviews may be genuine, and individual experiences can vary.
Considering a range of reviews from different sources can provide a more comprehensive and balanced view. And of course – don’t forget to check your network of friends, family and neighbours to see who they have in their tried and tested trades address book.
And once you have your shortlist – speak to those trades people to see how you find them on the phone or face to face.
