So what do all those badges REALLY mean?

Not just because we’re lovely people 😂, but because we make sure we’re constantly up to date with industry innovations and approved by the best bodies around. This is why we thought we’d take a few minutes to explain some of the approvals and accreditations we have, and what they mean for you, our customers and clients.
- We’re Gas Safe Registered. The Gas Safe Register is the only official gas registration body of gas businesses and engineers in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey. By law all gas businesses must be on the Gas Safe Register.
A gas engineer can only be aligned to a registered business and be issued with a license to undertake gas work on behalf of a registered business if they hold a valid and current qualification. This evidence of competence relates only to matters of gas safety and is obtained by every engineer through a recognised route of training and assessment (much as the DVLA issues driving licences to those who have demonstrated their competence by passing a driving test).
Business registration is only given on the basis of the business having at least one gas safety qualified engineer.*
- We’re Buy With Confidence/Trading Standards Approved. What does this mean? It means we’ve been vetted and approved by Trading Standards and we’re committed to operating in a legal, honest and fair way.
We’ve been criminal record checked (because we go into homes), we’re qualified, experienced and fully insured. We’ve also been monitored to ensure a high level of customer service and are fully conversant with Trading Standards legislation.
The great thing about Buy With Confidence is that all checks are done by local authority Trading Standards Services and not by 3rd parties or private companies. It’s the only nationally available business approval scheme that’s 100% owned, controlled and operated by independent public sector bodies.**
- We’re members of SNIPEF, The Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers’ Federation, which is the principal trade association for plumbing and heating businesses based in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
SNIPEF has been in existence since 1923 and represents the interests of the plumbing and heating industry, from sole traders right through to large-scale businesses. They also manage the training of plumbing apprentices, ensuring a skilled workforce in the future.

- We’re Building Standards Approved. Being Building Standards Approved means that when you’re doing building work on your home you can get certain design and construction work certified by Approved Certifiers.
They’ll give you a certificate that says the work done meets Building Standards. This can be given to your council as part of your application for a Building Warrant for example.
There are two types of approved certifier, there’s an Approved Certifier for Design, who makes sure the house’s structure and/or energy efficiency meet building standards. If they do, they’ll give you a Certificate of Design for Structures and/or a Certificate of Design for Energy. There’s also an Approved Certifier for Construction who can do building work, including plumbing for you and certify that their work meets building regulations.****
